Cricket Diplomacy, Once Again
WITH BCCIs resolve to invite Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has generated a lot of heat. Everyone has become an expert on cricket as well as on Indo-Pak relations. Nobody is neutral. But should we?
PCB has been pestering BCCI in this regard as it has gone almost bankrupt because no cricket board can afford to play Pak on Pak soil under uncertain circumstances. I can't understand those who have welcomed the move claiming it as a step in the direction of improving Indo-Pak relations. They forget that it is not the first time cricket diplomacy is being advocated. Why do they forget that a large number of visitors from across the border to witness match in Mohali never returned home. How many of them were spies? How many of them have remained here to create terror modules? How many of them would have contact with sleeper cells of terrorists?
DOUBTS have been raised about the busy schedule of Indian team that may risk injuries. That should be the concern of BCCI but the people running the country must not try to divert the attention of common man from the problems being faced by him.
