Govt. at Work; Please donot Disturb

THE FM Pranabda told the parliament yesterday : Please don't press panic button. He was explaining why rupee is falling against USD and why sensex is plummeting_because government is busy solving other 'important' issues like betting in IPL, Rekha V/s Jayaprada, Cartoon business as also presidential election.

IT IS really ironical that players caught in sting operation have been suspended by IPL management (read Srinivasan) while no action is being contemplated on franchises. Rather, action can not be taken on real culprits because many of them are running BCCI and some of them are sitting in Parliament too. That's why, while parliament discussed the issue but, considering it a matter of private organisation, kept aloof from this serious crime.

BETTING has been going on since at least 1995 when Cronje admitted to it. The question is  why the young players got into the trap. One thing is very clear, that players are being paid under the table. Can anyone believe that a Tendulkar or a Dhoni would be playing at less than half the amount being paid to Jadeja or Gambhir? Can anyone believe that Gayle is not being paid a hefty sum for being retained by RCB? Why the cap of Rs. 30 lakh on uncapped players? Is n't it an invitation to them to seek more money by any means? Besides, one of the suspended players Shalabh had played at U-19 level along with Kaif and Yuvi;; was the highest wicket taker in Sri Lanka in the year 2000 but was totally ignored while his team mates are soaked in glory. Why?

THERE are allegations that IPL has been stage managed right from day one. The issue of five suspended players is being investigated by IPL. What about the money givers? The issue will never be discussed as many of those running BCCI and IPL are the franchises. Minister Mr. Ajay Maken spoke in the Parliament for bringing BCCI under RTI but he was opposed by some others, including coalition partners of Congress. The fact is, nobody wants to clear this rot, otherwise faces of many big wigs will be covered with filth and mud.

REGARDING the falling rupee, it is not the problem but the symptom of a major ailment that I will write about, next time.
